“The space elevator, in simplest terms, is a ribbon.”
I’m fairly certain I would like this video even if I wasn’t already intrigued by space elevators. There’s something about the animation that is literally timeless — this could have been produced last week or in 1987.

The concept of a space elevator is elegant – it’s why I remain fascinated by them.
No explosion of fire, no breathless countdown. If a vehicle stops working it just .. stops. You can take a few hours and troubleshoot the problem.
In an ideal world a space elevator removes the drama of space flight from ‘launch’ to ‘exploration’ . . . where it should be.
